FRANK JACOB is a collaboration between Jon Frank and Marieka Jacobs.

Our current project, I AM FROM THE BEGINNING, is an exploration of ‘self’ as a divine beauty that is non-temporal and transcendent in nature. Devoid of earthly identification, the human form within each picture weightlessly occupies space that is unencumbered by time or place.

The intention behind this non-corporeal representation of human identity is to open up questions around whether there is more to the experience of being human than the physical one. Is there a spirituality innate to each of us? A connection to nature - or something deeper - that transcends our worldly worries and obsessions?

If 2020, and the COVID19 pandemic has taught us anything, it is how feeble and fragile our man-made capitalist paradigm is. Perhaps our true nature comprises of the elements of us that sink back into the earth from which we came?

The majority of the work has been created along the west coast of Mallorca. We exclusively use 35mm & medium format film for its colour palette, dimensionality and granular structure.
